Art 1 Final Portfolio

1)  This is the stencil and I believe that it is the most successful artwork I have done this semester.  I loved working on this one because of the freedom we had.  Using the Xacto knife did make the process a little harder, but overall it was fun and successful.  I also really enjoyed using the spray paint.  It was fun it made the work look clear.  If you were just to look at the stencil I garentee you couldnt tell what it was.  That it what made this project fun.  Not knowing what the final product was going to look like.  The color scheme was also my favorite because it brings out indivisual details.  Overall I believe that this was the most enjoyable and most successful project.

 2)  The game board was the least enjoyable for me.  I hated how it never seemed to look right and the colors didnt work.  I defenitly don't think it was the best, but I did learn from it.  I learned alot about  how to blend my colors together.  Before this project I never really blended my colors much, so this was fun and I learned from it.  I think the use of blending the colors added contrast to the drawing and brought out the details.  The use of the colored pencils brought out many details that the water colors only couldnt do.  The colored pencils also made the drawing stronger and more life like.  In the end, the drawing isnt the best, but I did learn from it.

3)  The value portrait used previous lessoned to make the final peice.  To make this I had to use the previous lesson vaule, shading, and drawing.  This is also one of my best peices, I think, considering the experince I had at that time.  The use of values was the main lesson for the peice, but I did have to use shadowing to help create this art.  I have grew alot in this peice because starting out I couldn't draw much and have it still look good.  So I believe that this was were the most growth for me was.  Since then I have grown alot and got better.  If I were to draw that now, I think, that it would look alot better and the values would have been brought out more.  Overall for that time, I believe that it was one of my best.

4)  The print making project I think was the least important.  I feel that it should have been more of an extra credit project than an actuall project.  We didn't really learn to much other than how to use the lynollium cutters.  The project was fun, but in my eyes, unessecary.  We didn't learn much about values, shading, shadowing. perpesctive.  To me this project just felt like something used to waste time.  I liked doing it, but didnt see the need for it.  We could have spent more time on other things rather than do this.

 5)  I love to paint.  When I was a little kid I always remeber getting some type of paint studio thing for christmas.  Painting has always been something I love to do and really relaxes me.  So when I heard we were doing this it was like a dream come true.  Maybe not that exciting, but still very exciting.  I chose to do a Pennsylvania landscape because thats where my dad is from and I love going there and looking at the landscape.  If you go out on my grandfathers front porch you can see the mountains and the trees and it has always been something I love to look at.  So deciding what to pain was a peice of cake.  Unfortunutaly all the pictures of my grandfathers house were unable to be printed, so I had to try and remeber it, but also bring in ideas from my sources.  I feel there could have been more, but there was little time and it didn't feel the same.
