Game Drawing

Overall this project was fun to do.  The watercolor was a little tricky and the washes made it tougher, but I think it turned out well.  I think the peice is good, but it could better.  It was hard with the blending and having to overlap the objects.  I think the thing that worked the most was the colored pencils.  Using the horizon and vanishing points was tricky when i was putting the picture into perspective.  If I could do this project over i would defenitly want to change what picture I used.  I would also like to change my shadows.  I think I would change the value and highlights as well because they were one of the diffeicult parts.  During this project I learned that not every peice of art is going to look good, but you have to work with what you have.

Anamorphosis

1. Describe the process you went through to change your object into the correct perspective to create the drawing. This is when you were in the lab.
When we were in the lab we had to ge a photo for our anamorphosis drawing.  We then had to photoshop the photo on the computer and stretch the photo to look like it iws coming out of the paper.
2. How did distorting and stretching the object allow for you to create a drawing that would look different to the viewer?
It would look different for the viewer because we had to pu the picture into scale and into perspective.  We pretty much transformed the picture.
3. What were the most important concepts in the project to make it successful?
The first step when drawing this was to draw a grid.  This is critical for the drawing to work.  The next crittical step was to make this into a colored pencils anamorphosis.  Doing this we hand to show value in the drawing.  Otherwise the drawing would not stand out.  The last thing that completed this drawing was the use of shadows.  Without these elements being in the drawing it wouldn't work.

Stencil

1. Explain how you changed your photo in the lab to create a stencil.
To creat my stencil I found a couple of photos of my car and then photoshopped the car and created a threshold.  All of this was done on the computer.
2. When creating the collage background explain your choices of colors, materials (magazine paper, books pages, etc), and placement. How does it relate to your topic? If no relation discuss general idea.
When I created my collage I used pages of the newspaper and waterglued them down on my paper.  I then used watercolors to add some contrast rather than just a plain white background.  Then I spray painted the background as well.
3. Discuss the way positive and negative space was used to create your stencil.
Positive and negative space was used to creat the composition of my stencil.  By using the light colors like yellow, orange, and pink it added lots of contrast.
4. When using the xacto knife, explain the safety procedures, how to use the knife and any challenges you had to overcome while cutting.
When I used the xacto knife I had to be very careful becasue the blades are very sharp.  You could easily cut yourself with a little poke.  This made cutting the stencil a little harder.  The blade would also fall out of the haldle making it hard to work with.
5. How was your experience with the spray paint? Discuss how color choice is important, placement of stencil, and any other concepts you noticed while creating this.
My experince with spray paint was a good one.  When adding the black for the stencil everything went as planned.  makeing this a very easy part of the assingment.  It was a little hard considering the wind was blowing, but all in all very good project.
